I recently went to a new chiropractor and learned that the path into his career was largely inspired by a yoga teacher. He casually mentioned how this yoga teacher saved his life by referring him to chiropractic care, and helped set him on a road he may not have otherwise found.
Yoga teachers really are the heroes of the communities we serve.
It’s not always easy to be a yoga teacher, and it can be hard to remember how important we are for our communities. Social media, unhelpful vitriol, and rigid thinking can lead to heaviness for teachers. We have a lot of eyeballs on us, and they aren’t always kind.
As yoga teachers, we spend a ton of time, energy, and resources on our education. Many of us have rearranged our homes or invested in tech to allow for home Zoom classes during the pandemic. Some of us left other careers to pursue our yoga passions in a sometimes thankless industry.
But here’s the thing. Even when it gets heavy, when it doesn’t seem like your teachings are heard or appreciated…Know that there is a – usually invisible – ripple effect.
You are making a difference in your community whether directly or indirectly. Someone might share the impact you have, like my chiropractor did, or your ripple might carry on without your knowledge.
Whether you know it or not, you matter.
We see you.
Keep going, you’re doing great.
With love,
from Amy Ippoliti
